Guarding the Guest Experience

Theron Skees

Sustaining the Cultural Vision

To support DGCL’s ambition of delivering a culturally authentic and operationally world-class destination, The Designer’s Creative Studio led the development of a custom Physical Environmental Standard for the Bujairi Terrace.

Acting as subject matter expert, I guided the creation of an evaluation system that defines, scores, and tracks key experiential elements across the built environment—from materials and lighting to storytelling details and guest perception. This system now enables DGCL to proactively manage quality, inform future development, and ensure a consistent standard of excellence across the Diriyah Gate property.

It’s a lasting framework built not just for today’s needs, but for the site’s long-term success as a globally significant destination.

Our Impact

  • Established a Cultural and Experiential Standard
  • Created a System for Operational Sustainment
  • Integrated Storytelling into Evaluation Criteria
  • Enabled Scalable Implementation Across the Destination
  • Infused Global Best Practices
  • Established a Long-Term Training and Adoption Plan
  • Protected Investment and Brand Integrity

What Our Client Said:

“Rarely in cultural and heritage-based environments is there a realization that maintaining “thematic consistency” is critical for both the delivery of an authentic experience and the representation of underlying values.  It’s even more rare to find a partner that can not only appreciate authenticity but can help you build templates to quantify how well you are adhering to that thematic authenticity over time.  This is exactly what Theron helped us achieve for the Bujairi Terrace environment in Diriyah.  This will become the foundation that we will use to ensure Thematic Consistency during the development and activation of the rest of our $63.2 billion development.”
